Meanwhile, here in the year 2012...

This blog was started in 2006 to document our attempts to live a sustainable lifestyle. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you'll discover that we eventually abandonned that goal and the reasons why.

Nonetheless, I have decided not to delete the blog, because it still covers a number of issues and contains a large amount of information relevant to anyone trying to achieve sustainability today. And we are still aware of the increasingly urgent need to live sustainably and we're still taking steps towards that (for example, we've finally got around to keeping bees and we're currently considering keeping chickens).

But there'll be no photovoltaics: successive governments have wholeheartedly undermined our plans on that one with ever dwindling financial support. Our focus will instead be on minimising our energy use - something we should all be trying to do at a time when nuclear power is being sold as the 'only' solution to the energy crisis.

So the sustainability dream is far from over; it's just been subject to a significant downsizing! But don't let that stop you reading the rest of the blog. It was written at a time when our hopes and ambitions were high and I'm sure it's all still achievable - just not by us!

Oh yes, and we have now fixed the broken link on our Contact Us button again, so we are reachable again.
